Full Job Description

We are seeking an individual to assist our department in preparing lunch and dinner for our on-site clients, using cook-freeze products produced at the Gosport War Memorial Hospital Central Production Unit. This role offers valuable experience in large-scale catering operations.

Your primary responsibility will be to ensure our on-site clients receive meals of the highest quality, with occasional assistance to the chefs as needed.

You will work Monday to Friday, following a rotating weekly shift pattern that includes both early and late shifts, with shifts ending no later than 7 pm. Weekend work may be required depending on roster patterns.

NVQ chef training is available for those who wish to progress within the department, offering an opportunity to learn how to prepare high-quality food., Prepare foodstuff in line with parameters of the post or as directed by the head chef and chefs.

Ensure all work is ready for service to agreed deadlines and correct procedures are followed for cook chill operation to other sites.

Assist catering team in traying up, lidding and labelling and storing/loading of cook chill foods as required.

Ensure washing up is kept clear and sanitised and equipment is stored ready for chefs to utilise as needed.

Serve customers in the servery as needed and as rostered or directed by supervisors.

Work to correct standards of cleanliness and hygiene adhering to standards in simply safe toolkit guidelines ensuring principals of hazard analysis are followed.

We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospital kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will be a team player, friendly, approachable, and possess a can-do attitude. You should be able to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and maintain a customer-focused approach.

While prior experience in commercial catering is desirable, it is not essential, as full training will be provided.
