Full Job Description

The role is to assist, advise and work alongside our Chefs, in delivery and the preparation and production of food alongside the dining experience coupled with food ordering and stock management. To be able to develop a uniformed approach across our kitchens in terms of service and high food standards. 50% of the role will also be to cover in our kitchens and 50% in the Development role. We are looking for and outstanding chef who has a passion for cooking and who wants to help deliver outcomes for our current chef team but more importantly for all residents. You will have the opportunity to use all your chef skills - not just one specialism Reporting into the Regional Catering Manager you will: To assist in every aspect of the catering operation within our homes for residents and team members, delivering a high-quality service and dining experience in line with all health, safety & hygiene requirements. To develop consistent and varied, nutritious and appetising menu options for our homes, considering of any special dietary needs, allergen information and retaining records for inspection purposes that our residents want. To ensure that the provision of a balanced, nutritious diet for all service users, taking into consideration special dietary, medical, ethnic, religious needs and personal preferences are met. To ensure robust consultation with service users, the home management team and the senior operations team when planning / costing menus ensuring these meet the specific requirements of the home and offer the best value for money. Be able, whilst creating appetising menus, to work alongside the chefs and regional catering manager to ensure you deliver profitability whilst making sure high standards are continually met. Work alongside our residents to obtain a full knowledge base of their food experiences and wants. Practice safe systems of work across the range of tasks and in line with the Food Safety Management Systems, by assessing risk and having due regard for personal safety of residents, visitors, and team members. Keep excellent records of kitchen management within the homes. To ensure appropriate COSHH records are maintained and any products are stored appropriately Be able to supervise our kitchen colleagues effectively and in a timely manner as and when required. Be able to look at kitchen budgets and margin management and report back to Regional Catering manager so changes can be made. Be able to multitask as well as delegate some tasks to kitchen colleagues, to offer 1-1 hands on training workshops for IDDSI diets and substantial nutritious meals. To encourage open and honest feedback regularly about how things can be improved end up benefiting our daily operations in ways that we have not considered. Assist the Regional Catering Manager in induction of new colleagues, supervisions and appraisals in line with company policy. Train and develop new and existing kitchen colleagues to the same standard that deliver our expectations to be the best care company in the North East.
