Full Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role. CDI - Industrial Digitalisation Part Time Technician Role. The roles are to support the team in the delivery of the Industrial Digitalisation stream of the Centre for Digital Innovation research project. Based in PrintCity, you will be supporting the Product Development Specialist and the Technical Specialist to support machine operation and maintenance. Duties will include:

  • Working alongside the Product Development Specialist and Technical Specialist to assist in machine operation and maintenance.
  • Operate various Additive Manufacturing technologies such as Multi Jet Fusion, Selective Laser Sintering and Polyjet.
  • Operate various 3D scanning technologies such as structured Light and Laser Scanning.
  • Support on the Centre for Digital Innovation project.     This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students registered as Fusion Print Ambassadors (and those newly successful in the role) who meet the following requirements -
  • Essential:
  • Fluent in Computer Aided Design software such as Autodesk Fusion 360.
  • Working knowledge of 3D printing slicing software such as Cura and Preform.
  • Experience with 3D scanning technologies and reverse engineering.
  • Must be Self Motivated.
  • Capable of managing their own time and deadlines.
  • Good Communication and Presentation Skills.
  • Ambition to learn and improve.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience with Post Processing technologies such as Bead Blasting.
  • Experience with CAD software packages such as Netfabb, Magics or N-Topology.
  • Experience with maintaining 3D printing equipment such as Fused Deposition Modelling printers.
  • Experience of managing multiple 3D print requests / jobs.
  • Fusion 360 and 3D Printing Ambassador.

    Dates: Monday - Friday (days and times to be confirmed with the successful candidates during interview)
  • Hours of Work: Mon - Fri (09:00 - 16:00) - days and shifts to be mutually agreed at interview. (Up to 16 hours per week) Details of briefing/training: Training will be provided.
