An exciting opportunity has arisen in Cellular Pathology, as part of Derbyshire Pathology, for a Cellular Pathology Service Manager. Working as part of the Cellular Pathology Services leadership team, comprising of Associate Clinical Director for Cellular Pathology, Histology Manager, Andrology Manager, and Mortuary managers you will be responsible for all aspects of the Histology, Andrology and Mortuary services across The Royal Derby Hospital (RDH), Queens Hospital, Burton (QHB) and Chesterfield Royal hospital (CRH). Your work will ensure that the department delivers a high quality, timely and effective UKAS-accredited service.

As a qualified and experienced manager with leadership experience we will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to expand and develop senior managerial and leadership responsibilities within Derbyshire Pathology. The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific background and have knowledge and experience in Histology, Andrology and Mortuary service provision. The position requires the candidate to be fully familiar with ISO 15189 standards, have experience of Quality Management Systems; Health & Safety requirements; training/education techniques; Financial and HR resource management. The candidate will also be expected to have experience of using transformational methodologies to drive change and improve service delivery, The role will require the post-holder to be flexible and highly organised, able to align their values with those of the organisation, have the ability to delegate effectively and to work as part of a team with a 'can-do' positive attitude.

Derbyshire Pathology was formed on the 1st July 2018 of the laboratories at Chesterfield Royal Hospital and Royal Derby Hospital. Queens Hospital, Burton also joined Derbyshire Pathology on October 1st 2021. The Cellular Pathology Department is based on the site of Royal Derby Hospital. This is a very busy UKAS accredited department with an interesting, varied and growing workload, covering most specialities except medical renal biopsies, neuropathology and paediatric/neonatal pathology, and includes a team of 15 consultants and two specialty doctors.
