Full Job Description

You will assist in the delivery of civil marriage and civil partnership processes at registration offices, approved premises, registered buildings and religious premises where a Registrar is required. Once you are fully trained in this role, you will be assessed for the conducting of ceremonies which will include, commitment, renewal of vows and citizenship ceremonies as well as marriages and civil partnerships.

The hours of work will vary, as much of our work is seasonal. The busiest time of year will be from Easter to the end of October where we would expect you to be able to offer good availability within these months including weekdays. You will be required to work a minimum of two Saturdays per month between Easter and September plus Bank Holidays throughout the year. Hours are as we require, so will not be every day, but ceremonies are booked during the week, particularly the weekends plus the Bank Holidays throughout the year. There will also be a requirement to cover evening ceremonies as necessary on a rota basis.

On-the-go:

Our 'on-the-go' roles mean you'll usually start and finish your day from a base, moving around between different locations throughout the day. You won't need a fixed desk to work from, but you'll have access to our network where you can keep up to date with admin and the latest staff updates.

You should have excellent customer care skills and experience of dealing with people from all walks of life, in a variety of situations. You should be flexible and be available to work particularly during the week and the busiest time of year, sometimes at very short notice. You will be required to have good IT skills and have good organisational skills. Experience in a previous customer facing role is advantageous.

You should be smart in appearance and have access to/use of a vehicle to enable you to travel to diverse locations across the County.

The Buckinghamshire Registration Service registers all life events that occur in Buckinghamshire including births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships. We have two main offices, one in the Council's Walton Street Offices in Aylesbury and the other in Beaconsfield Old Town. We also have smaller outstations across the County.

    This position is part-time, 2.31 hours per week therefore the advertised salary will be pro-rated.
