Clinical Effectiveness South East London (CESEL) provides a systematic evidence-based approach to quality improvement, to help to improve health outcomes for local residents across SEL and build a successful Integrated Care System (ICS).
The programme brings population health management and learning together, to form the basis for personal, organisational and system development, and continuous improvement in outcomes.
The operating model is underpinned by SEL-level clinical leadership while allowing for local ownership and shared economies of scale; working flexibly to deliver ICS and local priorities.
CESEL Clinical Lead (place-based) provides clinical leadership in designing and delivering improvement resources and support (e.g. Clinical Effectiveness Guides, education) to primary care teams. CESEL has recently described an ambition to develop a system-wide quality improvement function that reaches beyond general practice.,

  • Lead and shape CESEL support offer to meet the needs of 'place'

  • Support effective multi-professional/ partner working and best-practice

  • Provide expertise and leadership in shaping, delivery and maintaining quality improvement support, ensuring best practice, that is mindful and shaped for local population and workforce

  • Inform the development and utilisation of quality improvement resources

  • Understand and navigate systems and place-based challenges, to inform an effective approach to facilitating quality improvement

  • Inform and lead the delivery of education for frontline clinical staff

  • Engage clinical leaderships to inform, localise and enhance quality improvement functions

From the Catford Cat to the Brixton Windmill and Chislehurst Caves, South East London is a vibrant, fun, unique and richly diverse place to live, grow, learn and work.

  • The South East London Integrated Care System (SELICS) brings together the organisations responsible for health and care services in south east London, making the greatest possible contribution to the health and wellbeing of people living in our six boroughs.
SELICS is made up of staff working in many different roles, in different settings, employed in different ways, by a wide range of partner organisations, and are at the centre of our collective ambition for greater integration and better care. Employing organisations include NHS Trusts, GP practices, Social Care and Voluntary sector organisations, social enterprises, dental surgeries, pharmacies and optometrists.
We have an ambitious People Strategy that brings these partners together to deliver the 'one workforce' ambition, making the health and care system a better place to work and live.
