Full Job Description

Imagine being able to make a significant, lasting difference and drive real change that will enable future generations to thrive. The central Change Programme Team here at Thurrock Council is evolving and offers an opportunity to do just that. We are now looking for a select group of dynamic and driven individuals who can help us achieve our ambitious objectives.
We have a herculean yet achievable task ahead. It will be no easy feat to embed innovative technology, modernise processes and change behaviours and mindsets, however, we have started that journey and are confident that with the right team and the right skills, we can make this happen. The truth is, we must make this happen, and you will be joining us at the most critical point in the journey yet.
An opportunity to learn how to bring a Council out of intervention, you will play an integral role in facilitating and guiding the council on its journey to modernisation and financial sustainability - whilst transforming ways of working with our internal staff, elected members, residents, and leadership.
On the other side of the change, as we leave intervention, expect career defining moments and a sense of pride that the Borough is not only fit for purpose but is ready to lead the way forward.
The role:
At the heart of team, this role is integral to coordinating and managing all activity across the change programme to ensure successful delivery of programme outcomes and objectives.
Performing a wide variety of tasks, from coordinating meetings and workshops, preparing agendas, managing project documentation, reporting and general administrative tasks. In addition, expect to act as a central point of contact for internal and external stakeholders - positively representing the programme.
The foundation of this role is set around creating and maintaining structure and organisation within the programme - but a keen interest in change and transformation would be encouraged. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who may be at the start of their career in change and innovation and want to experience first-hand how this type of work can make a difference to a community and residents lives.

Experience of supporting a large -scale programme through a period of change, ideally in a project/programme support role.
- Strong relationship building skills.
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and project management software.
- Positive attitude and willing to learn new skills.
- Pragmatism and objectivity - enabling you to solve problems with ease.
- Resilience, flexibility, and adaptability
- Desire and passion to drive change.
- Local Government / Public sector experience is desirable but not essential.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity in an organisation that is committed to delivering better services for its residents, communities, and staff. You will be part of a supportive and dynamic team and have access to a range of benefits:
- Generous annual leave entitlement - 25 days rising to 30 after 5 years' service.
- career average pension scheme
- relocation packages
- interest-free loans for green travel such as bikes or public transport season tickets
- salary sacrifice schemes such as childcare vouchers and cycle to work schemes
- maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave above the statutory minimum
- employee assistance programme to provide support to employees both at and outside of work
- flexible working to help balance work and personal life including job sharing, part-time working and home working
- buying additional annual leave
- career break scheme for up to 2 years
- wide range of courses to support employee development
- discounted rates for national restaurants, retailers, attractions and experience days
- discounts with local suppliers including cycle, beauty and fashion stores, restaurants, estate agents and driving schools
- 24-hour health advice and support
We also offer a hybrid working set-up, our office is just a 2-minute walk from the train station with rapid links in and out of Central London.
