Full Job Description
We are looking for a compassionate, kind chaplain to meet the spiritual, pastoral and religious needs of our service users, staff, family and friends at Lymington New Forest Hospital. The post holder will deliver a thorough multi-faith Adult Physical Health Chaplaincy Service Trust and work proactively based on the principles of social inclusion, promoting independence and recovery. They will contribute to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring that service users and their carers receive high-quality spiritual care and pastoral support during their time in the service.Main duties of the job
- To engage with the spiritual needs of the Service Users and staff in South-West Physical Health inpatient units
- To be a full, professional and participating member of the Chaplaincy team
- To use active listening and pastoral skills when providing spiritual care
- To assist any individual to make contact with their spiritual or faith community as they request and offer support to them and their community as appropriate
- To facilitate and deliver spiritual, pastoral and religious care to all service users and visitors
- To facilitate and deliver appropriate, compassionate, generic spiritual care, as required to patients and visitors of all faiths, beliefs and none, respecting, supporting and valuing the diversity of all
- To initiate and undertake relevant educational events to raise awareness of EoLC needs/issues in relation to faiths and beliefs
- To support bereaved families and staff
- To promote and foster good ecumenical and inter-faith working relationships with the Chaplaincy
- To offer pastoral care to staff in the localities
- To promote the role of the Chaplaincy service within the Divisions and Trust wide
- To contribute to the development of local services
- To work collaboratively within the Chaplaincy team
- To participate in the Trust appraisal and supervision process and professional development opportunities
- To support voluntary Chaplaincy within the locality
- To support relevant events and commemorations as required
