We are looking for a Chartered Valuation Surveyor interested in becoming a Technical Leader within the Regional Valuation Unit (South).
Our Technical Leaders provide technical advice to colleagues across the network. You will be a technical expert with a natural ability to coach and nurture colleagues undertaking professional qualifications.
The Regional Valuation Unit (RVU) is an exciting, ever-changing environment and will provide you with an excellent opportunity to join our highly skilled, diverse and growing organisation.
You will be joining a team of experienced colleagues who will share their knowledge and support you to become an integral part of the team. You'll share your own knowledge and experience in our collaborative working environment and can undoubtedly bring a new perspective to the organisation., The Chartered Valuation Surveyor – Technical Lead role is an important role supporting our future surveying talent pipeline and providing valuable technical advice, leadership, and guidance to the agency.
The role includes:
+ Delivering Non-Domestic Rating casework and providing technical leadership, guidance, and support to caseworkers.
+ Leading, motivating, and inspiring others to deliver results including sharing your professional knowledge to help others develop.
+ Setting and maintaining a strategic overview of the framework for the work of the team, including embedding the VOA vision and values.
+ Offering advice and guidance on complex issues which cannot be resolved within the normal rules or precedents.
+ Providing expert witness testimony and advocacy in complex litigation at Valuation Tribunal England/Valuation Tribunal Wales/Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber) and beyond. (Full training and support will be provided).
+ Act as a Counsellor to colleagues undertaking profession qualifications., A Personal Statement. You will need to complete a personal statement, in no more than 750 words, please outline your suitability for the role paying specific attention to the criteria outlined in the Person Specification and Essential Criteria for the role.

At the interview, the panel can then probe further and ask applicants to provide further specific examples that show how they best demonstrate their skills.

Presentation
You will also be required to conduct a 5-minute presentation on a complex legal and/or valuation issue which you have led. This will assess your Technical skills.

Essential Requirements
+ MRICS/FRICS or IRRV (hons) qualified in the valuation or real estate pathways.
+ The ability to lead, coach and mentor a group of individuals and support them through their qualification pathway.
+ Experience of working in local taxation. Technical expertise in this area and the ability to make sound and balanced judgements.
+ The ability to apply technical knowledge, valuation methodology, general legislation, and case law to inform decision making.
+ An understanding and ability to comply with statutory and non-statutory requirements.
+ Demonstrate a personal and professional commitment to the profession by actively participating in and promoting professional activities as well as proactively keeping their technical knowledge up-to-date, using it to provide advice and guidance to their teams.
