Full Job Description

This 12 month Research & Development industrial placement, starting in August 2025, is a great chance to take theory from university and put it into practice in a fast-paced environment. This provides a chance for real responsibility and hands-on experience in a challenging and diverse environment. Main Tasks & Responsibilities This role involves supporting the following within the vehicle dynamic team:

  • Target setting for specific vehicle systems and components to achieve vehicle dynamics performance requirements for European models.
  • Subjective evaluation and cross functional working to confirm vehicle target and achievement with relevant departments.
  • Ride and Handling performance planning, engineering approval, and release of chassis system and component specifications.
  • Development of European driving simulator for vehicle dynamic performance development purpose
  • Creation of system or subsystem models and associated controls system with Matlab/Simulink or similar tools with regards to Brake and Steering chassis systems
  • Implementation and/or usage of x-HIL environment
  • Large dataset manipulation and graphical output to support decision making forums across all Chassis domains.

    Understanding of vehicle dynamics or chassis related discipline.
  • Understanding of whole vehicle development process.
  • Experience of vehicle dynamics testing (subjective and/or objective).
  • Benchmarking / trend analysis experience.
  • Other languages (Japanese, Spanish, French, German…)
  • What you will need to be successful
  • A highly motivated and results-oriented student studying a degree in a relevant field.
  • Sufficient evidence of your right to work in the UK will be required.

  • In Nissan Europe, we plan to take design responsibility from Nissan Japan for some European projects. This is an exciting opportunity to support building a new knowledge area within Nissan Europe. We would like someone to join the team based at Nissan Technical Centre Europe to learn and help build Nissan Europe's capabilities to contribute to future projects. In addition, although this is a design role, we also conduct regular vehicle experiments, creating a work environment that has an attractive balance between desk studies and vehicle testing. NTCE, based in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, is our UK research and development hub where we lead the way in vehicle design and development.   • Competitive base salary at £21,587
