Full Job Description

Starrycare is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Chef Manager to oversee the daily operations of our kitchen and catering services. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, nutritious meals, managing kitchen staff, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. As a Chef Manager, you will combine your culinary expertise with strong leadership and management skills to create a positive dining experience for all service users., Plan, prepare, and deliver a diverse and healthy menu that caters to a variety of dietary needs and preferences, including specialized diets.
Supervise and lead kitchen staff, including chefs, kitchen assistants, and catering staff, ensuring the team operates efficiently and cohesively.
Manage inventory, order supplies, and oversee budget control for food and kitchen operations.
Ensure all meals are prepared and presented to a high standard, with a focus on quality, flavor, and nutrition.
Maintain the highest standards of hygiene, food safety, and cleanliness in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Monitor and manage portion control, waste, and stock levels to ensure cost-effectiveness.
Develop and implement staff training programs to ensure high levels of performance, including food preparation, hygiene, and customer service.
Work closely with other departments, including nutritionists and care staff, to ensure that all dietary requirements are met.
Develop seasonal menus and introduce creative ideas to enhance the dining experience for all service users.
Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and serviced, reporting any issues promptly.
Provide exceptional customer service, responding to feedback and making improvements where necessary.

Proven experience as a Chef Manager or Head Chef, ideally within a healthcare, care home, or institutional catering environment.
Formal culinary qualifications or relevant experience in food preparation and kitchen management.
Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in overseeing a kitchen team.
Excellent knowledge of health and safety regulations, food hygiene standards, and allergy management.
Strong budgeting, stock management, and cost-control skills.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Exceptional communication skills and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
A passion for cooking and creating nutritious, high-quality meals.
Desirable:
Previous experience working within the care or healthcare sector.
Knowledge of nutrition and specialized dietary needs, such as diabetic, gluten-free, or low-sodium diets.
Food Safety Level 3 or higher certification.
