Full Job Description

You will have the opportunity to create seasonal changing menus and new dishes, with the freedom to express your own creative identity and will benefit from brand new equipment in a newly fitted kitchen, whilst mentoring and training young people and adults.

The candidate we are looking for is a dedicated professional with meticulous attention to detail, who thrives in a busy kitchen setting. They will have a passion for cooking and training others to achieve their high standards.

The successful candidate will possess a Level 3 Diploma in Professional Cookery, Level 2 Food Safety certificate and Teaching/Assessor qualifications (Assessor qualification to be achieved within 6 months). It is desirable that the candidate will also possess a Level 4 Diploma in Professional Culinary Arts, Level 3 Food Safety certificate, IT qualification, Level 2 Equality & Diversity and First Aid qualification.

Applicants will have a minimum 2 years' experience of working in a kitchen environment, experience of managing a kitchen team and exceptional culinary skills to create high quality dishes for the McIntyre restaurant's menu, with the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

This role will include responsibilities within safeguarding and the postholder will be engaging in regulated activity.

The McIntyre Centre in Bishop Auckland is an exciting new development for the Bishop Auckland College Group. Located in the town centre, the iconic Grade II listed building has been at the heart of the community for more than 150 years. Having undergone a beautiful renovation, the McIntyre Centre will be the home to a new restaurant with training kitchen, exhibition and retail space, training facilities including two digital suites, job matching service and workspaces for emerging businesses. The McIntyre Centre will be a central hub supporting young people and adults to develop skills for jobs that are emerging as fantastic new ventures and visitor attractions open in the local area.
