Full Job Description
We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our team members drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. There's no single definition - it's about individuality. That's why we give you the freedom to pursue a career that's unique to you. Because success is personal. Training, development, and support for you Over the course of this 12-month programme, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in hands-on learning, working on real-world challenges that directly impact the energy industry. Most of your learning will be on the job, supported by your mentor and the teams around you. You'll have a chance to apply your academic training to genuine industry problems while completing modules that contribute towards your degree. Previous students on a Chemical Engineering Industrial Placement have been involved in projects such as:
- Reviewing the construction sequence within buildings to identity key pieces of equipment to work through how they will be introduced to the plant and the associated interfaces which need to be managed.
- Supporting the management of construction "hotspots" to identify the optimal construction sequence for Mechanical and Electrical Systems passing through common spaces within buildings.
- Assisting in running, maintaining and developing the condition monitoring programme throughout a plant. We're here to support you throughout the process and you'll find helpful tips and advice here: https://www.edfenergy.com/careers/early-careers
We are looking for candidates who are on track to achieve, or have already achieved, a 2:2 undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Process Management, Nuclear or Physics. You should possess strong technical and analytical skills, along with a genuine desire to learn and develop new capabilities. A questioning attitude, good teamwork, and effective communication skills are also essential qualities we seek.
At EDF UK success is personal. We don't define it, you do. Join our Chemical Engineering Industrial Placement and you'll achieve your career goals in the way you want to. All while contributing to our mission to help Britain achieve Net Zero. "Electricity is such a vital component in everyone's lives. It powers schools, businesses and hospitals, so I knew that if I did my placement within EDF then I would have a really large impact on society, and that made my placement a lot more fulfilling." Priyanka, Science & Engineering Industrial Placement. What does this Chemical Engineering opportunity offer you? We're recruiting for students to join us our Engineering Programme, working at Hinkley Point C (HPC), the largest construction project in Europe. Taking on a real job at a junior level, you'll have the opportunity to learn through hands-on experience under the guidance of highly skilled and experienced colleagues.
Alongside a starting salary of £23,250 and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal. At EDF, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated. Here, we do right by each other and everyone's welcome. We're on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. Our commitment is to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, the LGBTQ+ community, people with a disability and colleagues from a disadvantaged background.
