Full Job Description

The Chemistry and Radioanalytical Solutions business at Amentum is recruiting for a Chemistry Consultant to be based in Birchwood, Warrington; the successful candidate would join a team of highly qualified of engineers and scientists. The Chemistry Consultant will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects associated with the nuclear industry, from support to Small Modular Reactors (SMR) and Advanced Modular Reactors (AMR), nuclear new build, existing generation, UK and International nuclear fusion, defence and nuclear regulatory support. Responsibilities may include:

  • Leading small project teams to deliver chemistry-based projects
  • Working within a large multi-disciplinary project team of engineers and scientists to deliver projects
  • Assisting in the development of innovative solutions to complex chemistry problems
  • Support to site-based customer activities
  • Support with the design, build, commissioning and operation of test rigs and facilities
  • Variety of lab-based sample analysis and interpretation of experimental data, compilation of high-quality technical reports and discussion of results with customers
  • Support with the preparation of bid documentation

  • Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or other similar scientific discipline, plus relevant experience.
  • Either hold chartered status or have the ability to gain chartership
  • Able to be self-motivated, work flexibly and multitask
  • Excellent practical laboratory skills and communications skills both written and verbal
  • The ability to be able to work as part of a team
  • Knowledge of the chemistry, materials and engineering issues associated with the similar sector
