Full Job Description

A high-achieving secondary school in the vibrant borough of Lambeth, with an 'Outstanding' Ofsted rating, is seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Chemistry Teacher to join their successful Science department. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in January 2025. The Role: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Chemistry across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially 5, depending on the candidate's specialism and experience. Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging and challenging lessons that meet the requirements of the national curriculum and inspire students to develop a love of chemistry and scientific inquiry.
  • Creating a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation, experimentation, and critical thinking.
  • Assessing and monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback, and implementing differentiated learning strategies to cater to diverse learning needs and abilities.
  • Utilizing a variety of teaching resources, including laboratory equipment, ICT, and demonstrations, to enhance students' understanding of chemical concepts and practical skills.
  • Collaborating with colleagues within the Science department to develop and enhance the curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to the school's commitment to excellence in science education.

    A degree in Chemistry or a closely related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • A strong understanding of the KS3 and KS4 Chemistry curriculum, with knowledge of KS5 desirable.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for chemistry.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
