Full Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and conscientious Echocardiographer to work at Barts Health NHS Trust. The successful candidate will work at the Barts Heart Centre, St Bartholomew's Hospital located in The City of London, with rotation to one of the other sites within the Trust network and contribute to the weekend working on a rotational basis. This role will provide the successful candidate with exposure to a variety of cardiac pathologies and clinical situations. The department holds dual accreditation with both the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) and European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI), so this is an exciting opportunity to develop your career as a competent Echocardiographer with opportunities to progress to training in advanced specialist areas., An experienced Chief Cardiac Physiologist / Highly Specialized Echocardiographer / Cardiac Scientist must work competently in a busy Echocardiography Department. The post-holder will be required to perform unsupervised complex-level tasks and assist senior staff as needed. The post holder must be able to rotate between St Bartholomew's Hospital and one other hospital site within the Trust network. They also required weekend rotation for delivering a 7-day NHS service (Every weekend over 45 weeks per year). Staff will be job planned to cover 3 days during weekdays and 2 days on weekends. We will accept and consider part-time arrangements if necessary. The post-holder will be required to work autonomously as a senior staff member within the non-invasive Cardiac Diagnostics department, assisting senior staff with managerial tasks. We are looking for a fully accredited transthoracic Echocardiographer, independently performing and reporting to BSE standards or equivalent. Applicants must hold full accreditation with a recognised national / international body, have relevant experience at a senior cardiac physiologist level and be ready to embark on the next step of their career. Furthermore, you will be supported to develop your leadership skills as you supervise and train staff in the performance of their individual roles and give support to senior staff members.,

  • Well-versed in basic diagnostic skills expected of a band 6 cardiac physiologist or higher
  • Experience in hands-on Transthoracic echo
  • Experience in mentorship of junior colleagues
  • Desirable Experience being responsible for small sections of the cardiology service Skills Essential
  • Ability to work in and contribute to a team environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Knowledge Essential
  • Experience working within echocardiography
  • BSE / EACVI certification
  • Qualifications Essential
