As the CCO, you will play a key role in helping to shape the future of our organisation, leveraging the assets of the Trust for the benefits of our patients, carers, their families, communities and our staff. Your leadership will be compassionate, inclusive, and focused on improving people's lives and mental health through commercially sustainable ventures and enterprises, locally, nationally and overseas

Alongside our Board of Directors and the Executive Leadership Team, we will work towards our goal of delivering outstanding mental health care, as outlined in our five-year Trust strategy, Aiming High; Changing Lives., The Chief Commercial Officer will be accountable to the Chief Executive and will provide leadership to the Trust's range of commercial activities. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the development, delivery and expansion of the Trust's Commercial, International and Education strategies, with the aim of improving people's lives and mental health through commercially sustainable ventures and enterprises, locally, nationally and overseas.
The post holder will be expected to lead the Commercial Directorate in helping to build on the Trust's strengths; its national and international reputation for delivery, development and research of mental health services. This will require expanding the depth and scope of the current commercial developments where there is potential for growth, increased income generation, and innovation, whilst acting as a recruitment and retention aid for the whole organisation.
The post holder will be expected to have a background in commercial activities and an understanding of the history and culture of the organisation, in order to leverage the assets of the Trust for the benefits of our patients, carers, their families, communities and our staff., The Chief Commercial Officer will oversee an exciting and dynamic portfolio, including leadership of:
+ Maudsley Enterprise, responsible for developing and delivering home grown commercial initiatives, including Maudsley Learning and Maudsley Private Care.
+ Business development functions, including developing nascent marketing, sales and bid/tender writing teams.
+ Innovation initiatives, including engagement with the worlds of non-research funding and investment.
+ Protection of the intellectual property of the Trust in any form that takes.
+ International venture liaison and development, including the delivery of existing projects (Maudsley Health, UAE), and the identification and development of new opportunities overseas.
+ The development and implementation of a Strategic Estates strategy for the Trust, with the aim of maximising financial sustainability and clinical effectiveness.
+ The development and implementation of a Joint Commercial Strategy with our key academic partners to maximise innovation and the impact and spread of research and related activities.
+ Coordinating, developing and implementing the Trust's Education Strategy, in partnership with the People and OD Directorate and other professional education leads.
The post holder will be a non-voting member of the Trust Board and be expected to play a significant role in the corporate affairs of the organisation as an Executive Director. They will work in line with the NHS leadership competency framework for board members to ensure delivery of high-quality clinical and corporate services.
