Full Job Description

Beacon Hill Academy are seeking an exceptional Teacher to strategically develop, lead and manage the AS base at Beacon Hill Academy. Working closely with the SENCO and Senior leaders, the ideal candidate will ensure a highly effective provision for learners with Autism in the AS Base.

Beacon Hill Academy is an inspirational academy which instils ambition and desire in learners, with values of dreaming big, rewarding effort, leading together, respecting each other and learning that inspires running through all aspects of school life. The academy is well led with high expectations for all (Ofsted 2021).

Dudley Academies Trust was formed in September 2017 under the sponsorship of Dudley College of Technology. Our Trust schools are St James Academy, The Link Academy, Pegasus Academy, Beacon Hill Academy, Blowers Green Primary and Kate's Hill Primary. The Trust when combined with the sponsor, annually supports 8,500 young people aged 4 to 19 years old and employs almost 1,300 staff.

As a Trust we are highly centralised, which means that all of our systems and processes are aligned. Everything we do is developed collaboratively involving many professionals and experts who work together across the Trust, all striving to provide the highest quality provision for our learners.

Teaching and Learning is supported by a central team of Subject Directors who are experienced teachers with leadership and mentoring skills who work across our academies supporting teachers in their personal development, data analysis and curriculum planning. Subject Directors have specific areas of focus such as Mathematics, Science, Reading, Writing and History.

The Values Driven Expectations behaviour model ensures that all learners are well focussed and that there is no low-level disruption in lessons; this allows colleagues to concentrate on leading high-quality teaching to inspire learners. Cutting edge data management processes also mean that key data is provided from the central team, freeing up your time to act on key information to accelerate learners' progress.

The Trust recognises that our staff are our most valuable asset and investing in our people is a key strategic priority for the Trust. A common and extensive programme of staff development operates across the Trust, this is extended to senior and middle leaders, aspiring leaders, teaching and support staff and non-qualified teachers.

You will be joining the Trust at an exciting time as we are continuing our journey to provide a first-class education for the young people of Dudley, with outstanding teaching and learning being the Trust's foremost priority.

Our Chief Executive, Jo Higgins, joined us after a career in school leadership in South Yorkshire, where she led Penistone Grammar School for ten years. She also contributed to the borough wide school improvement system in Barnsley and she led the application process for a cross phase MAT of eleven schools.

As a school leader, Jo is motivated by the conviction that all young people should be able to access outstanding provision, irrespective of their starting point in life. As part of her previous work she has driven rapid school improvement, and brings this experience to help strengthen each school's performance.

    This is a part time role, with a working pattern of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The role also has a 0.4 TLR 2A.
