Full Job Description

You will contribute across the full breadth of the corporate agenda and have responsibility for the professional leadership and education of the Trust's medical workforce ensuring that Trust policy, procedures and practices align with GMC guidance on 'Duties of a Doctor', 'Maintaining Good Medical Practice' and 'Maintaining High Professional Standards'
Acting as the Trust's Caldicott Guardian and Responsible Officer, you will ensure that the required standards of confidentiality and information sharing are adhered to and Trust values are embedded in all aspects of medical and dental clinical and professional practice.
You will provide credible and visible leadership in managing a wide portfolio of Medical Education, Research & Development, Quality and Innovation being responsible for ensuring all relevant legal and statutory obligations are met.
A driven and influential leader, you will have a proven track record of successful medical leadership in a large complex organisation and demonstrate excellent communication and influencing skills. You will be experienced at Consultant level, hold current GMC/GDC registration and inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register.

Detailed responsibility:
Professional and Medical Leadership
+ To lead the development of a long-term medical leadership, engagement and education workplan which supports fulfilment and achievement of the Trust's strategy and objectives.
+ Provide strong and effective medical and clinical leadership and advice to inform corporate decisions, including leading the Deputy Chief Medical Officers and Clinical Directors to ensure that the views of clinicians are available to the Trust Board.
+ Ensure that the Trust delivers all of its clinical targets including those connected with clinical indicators, cancer, ED targets and financial balance working closely with the Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Operating Officer on overall delivery.
+ Responsible for ensuring that Trust policy/procedures and practices align with GMC guidance on 'Duties of a Doctor', 'Maintaining Good Medical Practice'.
+ Ensure that effective systems are in place for job planning and appraisal of all medical staff working in conjunction with the Chief People Officer.
+ Establish and maintain regular and effective communication with the medical workforce in order to ensure a corporate approach to the development of medical policy and clinical protocols.
+ Directly manage Deputy Chief Medical Officers and relevant Associate Medical Directors as designated by the CEO and undertake annual appraisals and job planning for those individuals.
+ Undertake regular objective setting and performance reviews for direct reports to encourage individual development, continuous improvements and high standards of performance and conduct.
