Full Job Description

The service provides specialist mental health assessment and intervention for children and young people with complex and enduring mental health problems including those with neurodevelopmental and learning difficulties.
The post holder will provide long and short term child psychotherapy to children, young people and their families/carers. They will be an active member of the multidisciplinary team including offering assessment, consultation, treatment and working closely with multi agency partners.
The service is based between Benton House, Sandyford Road, Newcastle and Bensham Hospital, Gateshead
The service operates from 8.00am to 8.00pm Monday to Friday and some work on Saturdays as necessary., To provide efficient, effective , comprehensive and highly specialist child and adolescent psychoanalytical psychotherapy assessment and treatment for children/ young people with severe, highly complex and persistent mental health problems, their carers/ parents and families.
To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychoanalytical treatment and/or management of a client's mental health problems. This may include brief, short and longer term psychotherapy.
To be able to make reasonable adaptations to assessment and intervention processes to accommodate service users with learning disabilities.
To monitor clinical progress through regular reviews of psychotherapy treatment. Where appropriate to co-ordinate and organise network meetings with professionals from other agencies and attend multi agency meetings.
To provide highly specialist consultation for the multi-disciplinary team and to professionals of related and partner agencies (health, education, social care, 3rd sector, and youth criminal justice system).
