Our new trust website is: Home | North London Mental Health Partnership, Barnet CAMHS have a long standing Child Psychotherapy Service across the generic multidisciplinary CAMHS teams and in other smaller more specialist teams. We currently have a vacancy for a permanent 8a Child Psychotherapist(s) and are able to be flexible around the sessions worked from 0.5 wte to full time in either our East or West teams. There are opportunities to develop specialist work alongside generic CAMHS, in our 0-5 team, Neurodevelopmental pathway, and specialist Adolescent service. We have several trainees and are currently part of a Randomised Control Trial with UCL. The role would involve consultation, brief-work, and long-term Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy with the children and families referred to this service. You would also be part of a large active Child Psychotherapy Service and be expected to offer supervision to band 7 clinicians and trainees, and be part of developing clinical practice and treatment offers in line with current thinking.

Please note if your employment starts before the 24/25 pay scales are implemented you will be paid under the 23/24 pay scales and any backpay will be adjusted accordingly. To provide generic mental health and specialist psychotherapeutic assessments of children, adolescents and their families/carers referred to the team drawing on a variety of sources including psychological, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care.
  • 2. To formulate and implement plans for the treatment and/or management of a the child, young person and their families mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the presenting problem(s), and employing methods of proven efficacy, across the full range of care settings, in consultation with the MDT. 3. In consultation with the Senior Management Team, to be responsible for implementing a range of psychotherapeutic model driven interventions for children, young people, their families/carers, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses. 4. To provide assessment and discharge care planning to children and young people who present for assessment in the acute NHS hospital, as part of a local protocol and rota.
