Full Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Child Safeguarding Decision Maker to join the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) for Swindon and Wiltshire on a 12 month fixed term contract. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and assessing Public Protection Notices (PPN) related to Child Concerns. Your primary function will be to evaluate risk, gather intelligence, and work collaboratively with partner agencies such as Social Services, Health, and Education Authorities to determine the appropriate course of action for safeguarding vulnerable individuals., Analysis: Review PPN referrals, ensuring accurate recording and appropriate actions, and evaluate police intelligence to share with partner agencies in line with national policies and local guidelines. Assessment & Decision Making: Collaborate with partner agencies, share police information, assess risks, and allocate cases for investigation. Chair PITSTOP meetings to address early signs of need, harm, or risk, and maintain detailed case records. Communication & Partnership: Provide specialist advice on safeguarding, represent the Police in multi-agency meetings, and promote continuous improvement in PPN practices. IT Systems & Performance: Update and manage local IT systems, track performance data, and manage daily triage demand. Participate in MASH meetings and escalate concerns as needed. Additional Requirements: Maintain well-being when handling distressing material, engage in professional development, and experience in a similar role is advantageous.

We're looking for a candidate with strong decision-making skills, able to evaluate complex situations and prioritise safeguarding actions. You should have experience conducting risk assessments, preparing child safeguarding referrals, and working in multi-agency partnerships, ideally in Child Protection. A solid understanding of the National Decision Model, Data Protection, and Information Sharing protocols is essential. Excellent communication skills, professionalism in handling sensitive information, and proficiency with IT systems for data management are required, along with a sound knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practices., Disability Confident About Disability Confident A Disability Confident employer will generally offer an interview to any applicant that declares they have a disability and meets the minimum criteria for the job as defined by the employer.
