Full Job Description

The Virtual School plays a central role in securing the future of children in care, and all our vulnerable children, holding high ambition for all our young people. Central to our work is the mantra "would this be good enough for your child". Using this as a starting point we work hard to ensure all our young people are in the best possible education provision to meet their needs and, throughout their educational journey, to enable them to meet their potential.

We are looking for an experienced practitioner with a youth work or education background who is committed to supporting our most vulnerable young people back into education or training. You will be flexible in your approach, able to work in a range of settings and with a range of young people and professionals and have a strong commitment to inclusive practice.

Bromley is proud of the improving outcomes for looked-after children and the support we provide for all our vulnerable children.. The authority takes its corporate parenting responsibilities seriously, providing challenge and support in equal measures to its children, schools, carers and other professionals.

You will have a broad experience of working with children across the age ranges, but particularly of secondary and post 16 ages, as well as extensive knowledge of supporting children with SEND. You will have a sound understanding of attachment and trauma, the SEND code of practice and some knowledge of the children's act and related guidance.
