Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available within the Child and Adolescent Learning Disability Service (CALDS) for a Learning Disability Nurse to join our friendly and dynamic MDT, supporting children and young people with a learning disability living in Gwent. This post is part time and temporary to cover a period of maternity leave.

CALDS is a specialist multi-disciplinary service consisting of Learning Disability Nurses, Occupational Therapy, Psychology and Psychiatry. We offer a range of services for children and adolescents with a learning disability, from assessment and intervention to consultation, liaison and training for other agencies.

Referrals are accepted for children and adolescents with a moderate to severe learning disability in conjunction with complex emotional/behavioural/mental health issues.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will hold a clinical caseload and will be expected to provide a variety of assessments and interventions for children and young people on an individual or group basis in a community setting.

The post holder will joint work with other professionals within the team to meet the needs of children and young people with high level of complex needs.

The post holder will work both autonomously and jointly with other members of the team to provide interventions and undertake specific programme preparation and administrative tasks. They are required to respond flexibly to changing needs within the child and adolescent learning disability team.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
