Full Job Description

Our client is a family-run company, opening a LD Residential Children's Home in the Tile Hill area of Coventry. Their aim is to create a safe, happy, healing, family environment for 4 children between the ages of 8-17 years with learning difficulties, who are unable to live with their families and may have experienced various trauma.

They are looking for a team of caring adults who can be understanding and compassionate for the children we are caring for, as well as the resilience and strength that it takes to manage the behaviours that can come from experiencing trauma and having learning difficulties.

The role This role will require the registered manager to lead and manage the children's home according to the ethos and approach of the organisation, ensuring that outcomes and high-quality care are delivered according to the home's statement of purpose.

The most important role is to be the stable, emotional support for them - for them to have adults that they can trust to act in their best interest and understand them. children need to feel safe, supported and cared for and the as the Manager is essential in achieving this.

Duties include:

  • Provide services, including supervision and management of the staff, planning for care and placement, safeguarding, communications, reporting, and quality and compliance monitoring.


  • Provide feedback on the effectiveness of statutory and organisational policies.


  • Ensure the home complies with legal and regulatory requirements, including the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards for Children's Homes, Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018, Data Protection Act 2018, and Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.


  • Ensure the home's ethos is embedded in the shifts and that children/young people are involved in the day-to-day running of the service.


  • Develop constructive working relationships in the broader community to promote the overall outcomes for looked after children.


  • Provide continuity of care for each child placed in the home


  • Ensure staff have the skills, experience, and qualifications they need.


  • Ensure staff are inducted and briefed on working with children/young people care planning systems and any programmes for positive care.


  • Lead and manage the home aspirational, inspiring both children and the staff.


  • Produce monitoring reports as required.


  • Ensure each child has individual care and care planning tailored to their specific needs and requirements outlined in their relevant plans.


  • Take responsibility for overseeing safeguarding children/young people and supporting the team to reduce the children's/young people's risks.


  • Ensure children/young people access services that meet their education, social, emotional, mental health, and well-being needs.


  • Plan and deliver the service and its programs to meet the needs of children/young people.


  • Establish professional relationships with the team around the child, multi-agency partnerships, and, as appropriate, parents, families, and other stakeholders.

    Excellent written and oral communication skills




  • Excellent leadership skills
  • At least 3 years' experience of managing a home ideally within LD settings


  • At least 5 years' of experience of working within children's residential care ideally within LD settings.




  • Completed or willingness to work towards Level 5 diploma in Leadership and Management
