An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a permanent Band 7 Children's & Young People's Epilepsy Nurse Specialist. The post holder will be responsible for meeting the needs of children, young people and their families with epilepsy. The post holder will support the Consultant to deliver holistic care to meet the needs of this patient group. This service is provided in accordance with national, local and regional guidance, standards, protocols and policies in order to ensure children and young people reach their full potential throughout childhood and into adult life. The service is to be underpinned by the guiding principles of minimising risk, prioritising patient safety, clinical effectiveness and user satisfaction. We are looking for a motivated and dedicated nurse to join our friendly team at Ormskirk Hospital, 1. To ensure that the care of children and young people with epilepsy in the local boroughs is to a high standard in accordance with the International League against Epilepsy guidelines, NICE guidance, the Children's NSF, Epilepsy 12 audit findings and the clinical governance agenda includes evidence based protocol development, audit, risk management, professional development. 2. To co-ordinate the care of children and young people with epilepsy and their families, in order to provide a seamless service within the multi-professional team, including staff from other statutory and voluntary agencies, both hospital and community based.
Registered children's nurses who have significant post registration experience and who can demonstrate a commitment to date to nursing Children's & Young People with Epilepsy are welcome to apply for this post. Applicants must hold a recognised British Paediatric Neurology Association (BPNA) qualification and an Independent and Supplementary None Medical Prescribing (NMP) qualification. An Enhanced DBS Certificate, with the checking of the Children and Adults' Barred Lists is required for this position.

Specialist Regional Services We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
