Full Job Description

The new Church Manager will join the team at St. Luke's and work with the Staff Team, PCC and Wardens to develop our processes and structures as we seek to grow. The Church Manager will be at the heart of our operations, ensuring seamless coordination and efficiency across all the departments and functions of the church. The Church Manager will also support strategic and financial planning, governance and policy making, along with property management. Role Responsibilities 1. Work with the church administrator in ensuring day to day tasks are achieved efficiently and the church office functions proactively. 2. Oversee hall/room bookings and meetings by maintaining accurate records, key holder agreements and documentation, to ensure the facilities are utilised for both church activities and providing income. 3. Oversee managing the church database and support effective communications both internally and externally. 4. Oversee the administration of HR processes, including employment contracts, holidays and sickness recording, assisting with HR documentation and readiness for new employees, as well as supporting the vicar with regular performance management for the staff team and volunteers. 5. Process invoices and expenses claims and make online payments to suppliers and staff, as well as preparing takings for banking and completing supporting paperwork. 6. Administration of all accounts receivable matters, particularly in relation to lettings. 7. Liaising with the Treasurer and Bookkeeper to ensure income and expenditure remain within agreed parameters, including shared oversight of accounts and budget management, forecasting, reports, payroll and growing giving. 8. Work with the building maintenance team to oversee works and contractors at all church premises, including liaising with Church wardens and the Building Committee in relation to premises matters. 9. Support ministry leaders in volunteer management, ensuring safer recruitment processes are followed along with induction and ongoing training, as well as building a servant hearted culture. 10. To be flexible and open minded in order to respond to changing needs or circumstances as church life requires. Expectations

  • 21 hours (0.6 FTE), occasional evening and weekend working may be required. Expected hours to be 9am-5.00pm three days per week.
  • Postholder is expected to be available for events that may fall on public holidays, e.g. Easter and Christmas.
  • Overtime will need to be agreed in advance and will typically be taken as time in lieu, the option of paid overtime will need to be agreed 2 weeks in advance.

    We are looking for a detail-oriented and focused Church Manager who is also a team player and passionate about the Christian faith. This role has an occupational requirement to be a Christian, as permitted under Schedule 9, Part 1, of the Equality Act 2010., Good level of IT and database management knowledge.
