Full Job Description

Hackney Council is seeking a dynamic and motivated Senior CIL and Section 106 Officer to join its award-winning Planning service. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who wishes to further their career in planning.As a Senior CIL / Section 106 Officer you will help us implement and monitor systems for these levies / planning obligations. This is an important role to help us ensure that development properly enhances growth in Hackney and supports our community.

Our planning service plays an important part in making sure Hackney remains a great place to live, work and visit.

Day to day you will support the Planning Service with the monitoring, collection and distribution of CIL and monitoring of planning obligations. You will also provide advice to members of the public. To do this you need to fully understand the CIL Regulations.You will also be responsible for ensuring our historic data is in order and quality checking this work.

You will be expected to report regularly on your work to senior management and Members.

Stakeholder management work is key to the role and will extend to TfL, GLA, developers and other applicants.

You will be a qualified town planner, ideally eligible for Royal Town Planning Institute membership, or a related degree holder with substantial work experience in the planning sector. You must have a good understanding of the legislation relating to CIL and S106 and you will also need experience of monitoring CIL and S106 agreements.

To thrive in this role you will need to be able to engage diverse audiences in a variety of communication formats with both internal and external stakeholders. Ideally you will also have some experience of managing people as you will be expected to help guide and supervise more junior members of staff within the team.
