Full Job Description

You will nominally be based in the Strategic Finance Team. During your training, you will be seconded across the wider Finance team to a variety of roles, including financial accounting, Finance Business Partnering, treasury management and internal audit. You will assist in managing the Council's accounting processes and support the implementation of new accounting requirements, working flexibly within the Finance team to support the Council's priorities.

This exposure to a wide range of day-to-day and project work will provide you with the breadth of skills, knowledge and understanding required to become a well-rounded professional, and equip you for a future role as a senior Finance professional in our Finance service.

We aim to train and support you to set you on a course for a successful career as a leader in Public Sector Finance. You will be supported to achieve this throughout your studies by a designated training manager.

This is a career graded post. As you progress through the CIPFA qualification in terms of both examination passes and demonstration of skills and behaviours, the salary will increase from grade 3 to grade 7.

As an 'any-desk' worker, you'll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.

You will be highly numerate and accurate with an enquiring mind and excellent attention to detail. You'll also have strong ICT skills, which can be built upon. You will have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to prioritise your work to meet deadlines. You will be committed to your personal and professional development.

A degree level or AAT qualification would be desirable but is not essential., As well as providing high quality services to other areas of the Council, you could also be helping us build on the revenue which comes from our external clients.
