Full Job Description

Situated in North Worcestershire, Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council share services. The Councils are committed to being customer driven organisations, with our customers at the heart of everything we do, focused on improving delivery services that make a difference to the community we serve., We are looking for an enthusiastic Lawyer to join our dedicated team and provide legal advice and assistance and representation to client departments and partner organisations in relation to civil litigation matters. You will represent the Council or partner organisations in civil proceedings in the County Court, Magistrates Court, or Tribunal, on behalf of or against the Council or partner organisations. Key requirements You will be responsible for dealing with Housing Disrepair claims brought against the Council and will work closely with the Housing Property Services team. You will also advise in relation to general civil litigation matters and property litigation matters.

The successful candidate will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives. Civil Litigation experience is essential, preferably with experience of dealing with Housing Disrepair claims. Excellent communication skills are essential. You will be required to establish and maintain a good working relationship with client officers and staff and elected members of Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council. We offer flexible and agile working and generous annual leave entitlement - 24 days plus bank holidays rising to 29 days after 5 years of continuous local authority service. This is a full-time position but part-time alternative options will be considered for the right candidate. We will consider candidates who do not meet all the requirements if they can demonstrate that they can bring value to the role.
