Full Job Description

As a member of the civils team the candidate will be report to one of the discipline project managers. In their role they will oversee a range of jobs, tasks and projects varying in cost and complexity from simple asset care to larger scale multi discipline projects. The candidate will direct the supervision and craft workforce in their day to day activities delivering a range of jobs, tasks and projects. They will also liaise with other discipline engineers, health and safety and quality teams as well as other business functions in order to successfully carry out their role. The candidate will also attend client meetings along with the project manager and be able provide updates on progress. As part of a joint venture between 2 large multinational companies there are ample opportunities for career progression. Job specific training will be provided to align with nuclear industry delivery.

  • Understanding of project quality and health and safety requirements, including experience of writing risk assessments and method statements.
  • Good analytical and judgement skills and the ability to develop budgets and track expenditures, including sub-contracting hours.
  • Be able to use initiative and have the ability to set and meet deadlines
  • Ability to read and understand schedules and pricing documents and implement them successfully.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build morale among the teams and promote continuous improvement
  • Understanding of customer expectations and deliverables and the desire to produce good quality products
  • Qualifications and Experience:
  • Experience of working in the nuclear industry beneficial.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to cultivate good relationships
  • Understanding of design and visualisation software such as AutoCAD beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience of using a total station for setting out purposes.
  • Minimum of HNC level in civil engineering essential.
  • Civil engineering degree preferred but not essential.
  • Any offer of employment will be strictly subject to the relevant security requirements for the role being met. This means that you will need to have, or be able to obtain, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance and either Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. The security clearance process may require non-British nationals or dual nationals (i.e. those with British and another nationality) to be subject to additional evaluation, depending on nationalities held and the nature of the work to be carried out.
