Claims Handler

Working as a member of our wider Claims team, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to senior claims staff whilst also processing your own case load of low-level claims and arranging prompt payment of invoices and other claim payments. You must be customer-focussed, enjoy working in a fast-paced yet team-based environment. In addition, you will demonstrate keen attention to detail and an ability to seamlessly swap from one task to another. Through on-the-job and classroom learning, you will have the potential to learn new skills and knowledge. We will support you through relevant Chartered Institute of Insurance qualifications and provide you with an in-depth knowledge of Legal Expenses Insurance. Achievement could result in your being rewarded with progression to Senior Claims Handler.Your tasks

• Claims Support Carrying out cover checks of new claims for senior colleagues. Processing payments of invoices within authority limit. Providing any other general administrative support as required by the wider team. Telephony support for the team.
• Claims Processing Assessing your own allocation of new claims and establishing availability of policy coverage. Speaking to policy holders and brokers to obtain missing information and/or to manage the claim. Providing decisions on cover and, where appropriate, instructing the solicitor or appointed advisor. Ongoing monitoring and management of accepted claims., The natural progression is to progress to the role of Senior Claims Handler. However, Claims Handlers can, through appropriate training, move into underwriting or sales.
  
  Good level of education (min. 5 GCSE Grade C+) . Confident user of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Outlook (tested as part of interview) A Law Graduate looking for an alternative to normal practice
