Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and passionate class teacher to establish and run our new and exciting Enhanced Learning Provision (ELP). This is a fabulous opportunity to become an integral part of an innovative strategy across the Local Authority, with Kings Academy being one of the first schools to offer this new provision. All students in our ELP will have identified cognition and learning needs, meaning they will be working below age related expectation. The students' needs will be met through a blended approach of ELP lessons as well as access to the mainstream curriculum. ELP classes will be aligned with the schools' curriculum but small in size to allow for a highly personalised approach. A purposefully designed and resources classroom will be provided for the successful candidate to create a bespoke and outstanding learning environment. Applications from candidates who are primary trained are warmly welcomed to support the needs of the identified students. A wider school responsibility includes enhancing the delivery of high-quality adaptive teaching across the school, using the ELP classroom as an example of best practice. The successful candidate will work with the Assistant Headteacher - SENCo, supported by the Wessex Learning Trust Director of SEND. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work closely with other teachers appointed to ELP roles in partner schools across the Wessex Learning Trust.

  • Are an outstanding teacher.
  • Have the ability to consistently teach inspirational lessons.
  • Have good organisational and communication skills and can be innovative, creative, enthusiastic and be able to deliver results.
  • Have the ability and willingness to make a broader contribution to the life of the school.

To apply for this position, please complete a teaching staff application form, together with a letter of application for the attention of Mr D Wiltshire (Headteacher). Your letter should be no more than two pages of A4, detailing your experience to date and why you are the best candidate for the position.
  • The Wessex Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding young people and promoting the welfare of children, and all staff appointed will undergo online checks and be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.

It is an exciting time to join the Wessex family as we grow, we can offer:
  • The full support of a dedicated committed team of staff.
  • The benefit of working in an innovative and forward-thinking Trust.
  • The opportunity to work with our wonderful young learners and supportive parents.
  • A commitment to offering excellent CPD opportunities.
  • Staff benefits, including discounted gym membership and a cycle to work scheme.
  • Teacher Pension Scheme with a generous employer contribution in excess of 20%, subject to pension eligibility criteria.
  • A staff assistance programme with specialist provider, CareFirst who provide a 24/7 free phone helpline, or face-to-face counselling for every employee in the Wessex family.
