Full Job Description

The role:

This is an exciting opportunity to teach Classics at one of the country's leading girls' schools.

As a Teacher of Classics, you will provide an excellent education for the school's pupils by teaching with expertise and enthusiasm, using an appropriate range of teaching strategies and resources, offering support to the learning of individual students and contributing to the school's pastoral system.

If you are a well-qualified graduate in Classics or a related discipline with the ability to teach Latin to A level and with experience of teaching Latin at KS3 and KS4, we would be delighted to hear from you. The ability to teach Classical Greek and A Level Classical Civilisation would also be an advantage.

Classics at Wimbledon High School:

We teach Latin, Greek and Classical Civilisation A Level to Oxbridge level and often have candidates applying to Russell Group universities. The Department's success rate with Oxbridge applications in recent years has been very impressive. We have a long history of running a wide variety of co-curricular activities, ranging from Classics Clubs to numerous theatre and museum trips, as well as visits to classical sites and residential trips to the Mediterranean.

About the School:

Since 1880, Wimbledon High School GDST has been educating girls to go out into the world and make a difference. Our acclaimed pastoral programme GROW, enriching co-curricular opportunities, character-forging partnerships and our 'playful scholarship' approach to academic life make for a compelling environment where every individual can flourish and be herself. Located in the heart of Wimbledon, we are less than 20 minutes from central London.
