Full Job Description

The role:To undertake general cleaning duties wherever needed throughout the School either in School buildings or BoardingHouses. A Cleaner can expect their duties to include cleaning bathrooms, toilets, communal areas, and officespaces. In addition, a Boarding House Cleaner is expected to assist with the upkeep of boarding houses, to createa safe and clean environment for the boys.For more information, please read the job description in the documents to the right of this advertisement.

The skills: You will have previous experience of working as a cleaner in a large organisation, as well as the ability to read written English for health and safety and safeguarding purposes. You will be reliable, flexible to help team members and will pride yourself on delivering a thorough, friendly service.

The environment:Harrow School is one of the worlds most well-known schools. Founded in 1572 by a local yeoman farmer, John Lyon, under a Royal Charter granted by Queen Elizabeth I, it is located on a 324-acre estate encompassing much of Harrow on the Hill in north-west London. Around 830 boys aged 13 to 18, who come from all over Britain and across the world, live in the Schools 12 boarding houses, and there are about 120 academic staff and over 500 support staff. Various working hours

  • Saturday mornings for 2-3 hours per day, for 26 weeks per year
  • Monday and Thursday afternoons for 3 hours per week, all year round
  • Monday to Friday mornings for 15.5 hours per week for approximately 42 weeks per year (maternity cover)
