You will be required to assist in the day to day provision of the Cleansing Service, including litter picking, emptying of litter bins, removal of general waste and graffiti and other associated street cleansing duties., From the start you will receive a warm welcome through an induction which will give you the opportunity to go through your role and responsibilities, terms of employment, learn about some of our key policies and procedures as well as provide you with some practical information to make the transition into your new role as smooth and effective as possible. We recognise that one approach does not fit all so we use a range of operational, developmental and statutory opportunities together with a combination of approaches and techniques to encourage and develop individual learning and growth. Employee Reviews are completed on a regular basis and coaching and mentoring is available to develop individual skills, knowledge and confidence. You should have experience of cleansing operations on Public Highways and other Public Open Spaces and have the ability to use hand tools and equipment to carry out duties. Having knowledge of hazards connected with working adjacent to the highway and hazards associated with waste materials collected is desirable. You should have a flexible approach to work, be prepared to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team, with the ability to switch between tasks whilst working to set deadlines. You will also have contact with members of the public and therefore need a polite and understanding attitude as well as having literacy skills sufficient to complete necessary paperwork and also be prepared to undertake any training relevant to the post. A current driving licence is required as you may need to drive a 3.5 tonne Caged Tipper vehicle.
