Full Job Description

To provide patient focused and high quality clerical support to the General Medicine Department.

All clerical staff will be multi-skilled and trained to ensure that at all times, data quality will be the highest priority.

We are a busy team with tight targets to achieve. This role is supporting the secretaries and other department teams to achieve this.

Main duties of the job

The role involves general office duties including telephone calls to be passed on to the relevant secretary or waiting list coordinator, distributing answerphone messages, collecting outgoing post and taking to our post room, managing generic email addresses and distributing messages to the correct person. There is responsibility for forwarding on radiology reports to clinicians via email and chasing outcomes/feedback. There is responsibility for clinic letters to be checked and processed via our digital dictation or voice recognition systems, therefore attention to detail is very important.

Full training is given. We are keen to develop skills and knowledge with internal training courses or mentoring and encourage career progression if desired.

We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people. Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: 'People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference'. We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called 'We care'. It's about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We're looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.
