Full Job Description

Do you want to work alongside our Clerk of Works, Andy and Louis?
Together you will monitor and raise the standards of workmanship of our many external contractors.
Do you want to work alongside our Planned Maintenance Surveyors, Fiona, Perri, Dean, Ben and Andy?
Together you will upgrade and refurbish hundreds of our properties each year.

As a Clerk of Works, you will supervise and monitor works on a variety of housing and service contracts ensuring building works and refurbishments are carried out to proper quality standards, in full health and safety compliance and to provide a measure of cost control for additional works.
Responsibilities
You will:
Carry out all on-site supervision and inspections on allocated projects, to ensure quality of work is maintained and within the times/programme allocated
Carry out quality of work inspections to ensure work is in accordance with the specification and communicating any problems with the individual tradesman or contractor
Monitor programmes of work to ensure contract timescales are achieved. Report any deviations from the contract programme to the relevant Project Manager or Contract Administrator
Ensure the materials and plant used are in strict accordance with that specified in the contract
Ensure all projects comply with all current Health, Safety & Welfare requirements and that standards are reviewed considering any new legislation.
Ensure requirements under the Construction Design and Management (as amended) Regulations are adhered to, including the enforcement of Construction Phase Health & Safety Plans and Risk Assessments.
Carry out post inspections of works and defect repairs as necessary, identify and resolve defects/outstanding items and issue handover sheets once work has been satisfactory completed.
Complete daily visit reports and issue weekly Clerk of Works reports as appropriate.
Working hours are 9am to 5pm, although you may be required to work longer, with a considerable proportion of the working day spent on site. This may require working alone for significant periods of time, or alongside surveyors and other Clerks.
Skills
You will need to have
Served an apprenticeship in one of the building trades with a final City in Guilds Certificate or Member of the Institute of Clerks of Works
A sound working technical knowledge of building construction and building maintenance techniques
a logical and practical mind
good oral and written communication skills
the ability to build lasting relationships with clients and colleagues
the ability to analyse problems to identify solutions
commercial awareness and the ability to ensure that our contractors are delivering value for money
the ability to take on high levels of responsibility with enthusiasm and motivation
good IT skills
