Full Job Description

We're seeking a dedicated and passionate Climate Change and Environmental professional to spearhead our council's commitment to a sustainable future. This key role will drive our efforts to reduce carbon emissions, mitigate climate change, and enhance our local environment.,

  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce the council's carbon footprint and achieve climate emergency targets.
  • Identify and secure external funding for innovative environmental projects, such as energy efficiency upgrades, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and heat network development.
  • Manage and optimise the council's utility consumption and billing processes.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of environmental policies and initiatives.
  • Represent the council at regional and national forums, collaborating with other local authorities and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the Climate & Energy Technical Support Officer and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Analyse data, produce reports, and present findings to key stakeholders.
  • Promote environmental awareness through public outreach and educational campaigns.

    Qualified to degree level.
  • A strong understanding of climate change issues and environmental best practices.
  • Proven experience in project management, funding applications, and policy development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
