Full Job Description

As the Clinical Coding Department Manager, you will be responsible for the daily running of the Clinical Coding Teams across both the UHW (Cardiff) and UHL (Llandough) sites, whilst ensuring that departmental objectives are achieved. In addition to this you will support the Head of Clinical Coding in strategic service development and the implementation of a robust training and audit program within the UHB. The successful candidate will also be expected to engage with services and clinicians to make operational improvements, aligned to the plans for service collaboration as led by the Head of Clinical Coding.,

  • Daily management of the Clinical Coding team across both UHW and UHL sites.
  • Support the Head of Clinical Coding in the development and implementation of various service improvement projects.
  • To identify the training needs of staff within the department and to organise and facilitate appropriate training where needed.
  • To cover absences within the management team.
  • To deliver on departmental, UHB and national coding targets
  • To manage Health & Safety within the clinical coding department
  • Any other duties in keeping with the effective management of the Clinical Coding Department as directed by the Head of Clinical Coding. (Detailed job description below)

    Ideal candidates should have passed the National Clinical Coding Qualification to become an Accredited Clinical Coder.
