Full Job Description

Our Clinical Director leads our clinical teams of over 2,000 first aiders and Healthcare Professionals providing training in communities and medical care on behalf of the NHS as well as at over 400 events across Wales each year., This 14 hours per week post is a member of our Executive Leadership Team reporting directly to the CEO. You will be required to attend a weekly Executive meeting at our Cardiff HQ on Monday afternoons. Hybrid working is available outside of this commitment. You will be the lead executive for our Clinical Committee and advise the ELT on clinical matters.

Were looking for someone with experience in Pre-Hospital care and event medicine who will be committed to the highest clinical standards and the power of volunteering. You will have experience leading a large team, ideally involving a volunteer/employee mix. Youll have excellent interpersonal skills, and you will embody our values and behaviours as well as believing in our mission.

St John Ambulance Cymru is the first aid charity for Wales. Established in 1918, our mission is to save lives and enhance the health and wellbeing of Welsh communities.

Supported by nearly 2,600 volunteers, we continue to deliver frontline services in the heart of Welsh communities and provide vital support to our emergency services when they need us most. We provide workplace training in first aid and health and safety and event medical cover at thousands of events. We support NHS Wales with falls response and mental health transfer services, and we run programmes for children and young people from age 5 18. We turnover around £8m per annum.

St John Ambulance Cymru are also part of something much bigger, an independent Priory of the Order of St John, working alongside 43 St John establishments across the globe.

Its a great time to join us as we are undergoing an extensive and exciting programme of modernisation preparing for our new 2025-2030 and beyond strategy., We've supported people and communities across Wales since 1880. Since March 2020, we have worked closely with Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust (WAST) and NHS Wales. We continue performing a major role in strengthening community resilience and ensuring people are trained in first aid. We fulfil key front-line roles to support vulnerable people, in addition to offering the opportunity for people from all backgrounds to develop their personal skills and confidence to support our charitable and income generating services whilst assisting their own career development.

As a charity, we partner with the Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust and NHS Health Boards, providing ambulance support services in addition to delivering our Falls Response Service. We maintain our reputation as being the leading organisation to deliver first aid training to both commercial businesses and local-based communities including schools throughout Wales.

We also give support to the people of Wales through: Medical duties at events, Community based divisions, Falls Response Service & Community First Responders (CFR)

Our focus is developing new, innovative services to help us achieve our mission of saving lives and enhancing the health and wellbeing of communities in Wales. We are undergoing an extensive and exciting programme of modernisation, forward thinking, encompassing a review of our existing services, financial and workforce models.
