The role ofthe Clinical Education Specialist (CES) is to be the locality link into theGreater Manchester Training Hub (GMTH). The aim of therole is to build relationships within the specified locality (Wigan) and to supportthe development and delivery of training and education programmes. Main duties of the job Ensuring thatlearning opportunities are maximised by the Primary Care workforcebydelivering & evaluating training & development programmes. Identifying trends inwork-based learning & work in partnership with managers & staff to ensurelearning needs are met. Identifying &promoting opportunitiesfor partnership working in the field ofeducation & development across a range of professional groups &agencies, including arranging & supporting practice placements forPhysician Associates, Paramedics, Nursing students & other Allied HealthProfessionals. Liaising with HEIs regarding practice placement issues including discussing studentperformance. Providing pastoralcare & support to students on clinical placement. Influencingpractice managers & practice educators to continue to offer qualityplacements in times of great demands on clinicians & services, helping toaddress barriers such as lack of funding, time, & space for students. Evaluating partnership working to identify areas for improvement. Acting as arepresentative for education at local, regional, & national meetings. Representing Wiganlocality,ensuring that national quality standards are met within practiceplacements to provide the highest quality. RepresentingtheTraining Hub at locality steering groups & attending any other localitymeetings to advise on learning opportunities & keep up to date on servicedevelopments. Developing new& auditing existing clinical learning environments., TheCES will be a representative for education at local, regional, & nationalmeetings. The post holder will represent their locality of the training hub,ensuring that national quality standards are met within practice placements toprovide a learners experience of the highest quality, & will include developingnew & auditing existing clinical learning environments. Thepost holder must have the ability to identify trends in work-based learning& work in partnership with managers & staff to ensure the learningneeds of learners are met & will include the use of e-learning. TheCES will ensure that learning opportunities are maximised in the workplace forall staff by delivering & evaluating training & development programmes& implementing changes reflective of evidence gathered. TheCES will identify & promote opportunities for partnership working in thefield of education & development across a range of professional groups& agencies, including HEIs, Open University, Royal College of Nursing(RCN), Colleges of Further Education etc. Including arranging & supporting practiceplacements for Physician Associates, Paramedics, Nursing students & otherAllied Health Professionals. TheCES will demonstrate the ability to build effective working relationships withstaff & colleagues in supporting learning to include representing the TrainingHub at locality steering groups & attending any other locality meetings toadvise on learning opportunities & keep up to date on service developments. TheCES will evaluate partnership working using both formal & informal feedback,identifying areas for improvements as necessary, for example reviewing & revisingthe Access to Nursing induction programme as part of Service Improvement,supporting staff, applying appropriate improvement methodologies, & presentingthe results to their teams. TheCES will use their expertise to assess the need for increased participation ineducation activities whilst ensuring quality of healthcare provision by the PrimaryCare workforce. TheCES will recognise the need for & work to actively increase theavailability of practice placements whilst ensuring a consistency in thequality of placements available for the training & educating of AHPs withinPrimary Care in Greater Manchester. TheCES will be instrumental in influencing practice managers & practiceeducators to continue to offer quality placements in times of great demands onclinicians & services, helping to address barriers such as lack of funding,time, & space for students. Thepost holder will liaise with HEIs regarding practice placement issues includingdiscussing student performance with personal tutors, practicesupervisors / assessors, & academic assessor, helping to solve problems bynegotiating actions to be taken in cases of underperformance. Develop& maintain communication networks & close working relationships withdirectors, managers, practice supervisors / assessors, & HEIs, includinggroup discussions & one-to one meetings about providing & enhancinglearning opportunities for students, identifying, & establishing electronicforums for information exchange. Appropriatelytailor communication of information to audience, including increasing awarenessof GMTH programmes available within locality. Providepastoral care & support to students on clinical placement.
Managetime effectively to achieve required outcomes within constraints of projects. Highdegree of autonomy & the ability to manage own workload. Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- Registered Nurse / Midwife with current NMC registration.
- Evidence of continuing professional development Desirable
- Graduate qualification in education or other relevant experience
- Strong working knowledge of IT packages Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and working virtually via MS Teams Experience Essential
- Demonstrable experience working within a General Practice Team
- In-depth clinical knowledge and understanding of the principles of evidence-based healthcare
- A good working knowledge of how general practice works and the GPN role
- Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders
- Knowledge of current issues for profession within the health service provision
- Understanding of strategies for improving services Desirable
- Currently working in Wigan / GM
- Experience of successful project or initiative development and implementation
- Experience of working in a wider system across several organisations
- Previous education experience
- Up to date knowledge and expertise of national priorities for profession in Primary Care and wider NHS.
