Full Job Description

An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic individual with an interest in education to work with the GNCH Education Team as a Clinical Educator supporting the Paediatric Burns and Plastics Team. The successful applicant will be supported by the Education Team to assist with the delivery of education and training for staff working within the specialty. This involves delivering training to staff in the Regional DGHs as well as staff within the Newcastle Hospitals Trust.,

  • Working alongside clinical staff who are new to or returning to practice to achieve skills and competencies, ensuring staff working are delivering care at the highest standard

  • Monitor staff compliance in skills and relevant competencies and ensure this is complaint with Trust Standards

  • This is a suitable post for an experienced registered nurse with established clinical skills, who wishes to further develop practice within the department and Trust wide

  • When necessary will act as a mentor / supervisor for staff undertaking formal educational programmes within the clinical environment

  • Develop collaborative working relationships and support strategic developments between all the Clinical Educators within the Trust which will help provide a framework for sharing good practice

  • Contribute to the broader professional debates and developments within the Trust through membership of the Practice Development Group

  • To raise the profile of the Trust at local and national level

    We are looking for staff with relevant transferrable experience to the specialty, with a flexible and adaptable approach who can act as a resource and role model within the clinical area. The post holder will need to have excellent communication and development skills and an understanding of the issues linked with current care and education. You should be self-motivated and have the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team as well as autonomously., It is essential you hold a current Healthcare Professional Registration and have recent experience of working in the clinical environment and meet the Nursing and Midwifery Council requirements for Practice Supervisor and Assessor or Educator. A teaching / assessing qualification would be desirable.
