Full Job Description

The Clinical Engineering Supervisor will be a key member of the Medical Devices Management Team. They will contribute to the management of the Department as well as working with the Clinical Engineering Manager to develop the services provided by the Department.
They will ensure that departmental strategies and policies are applied within the Medical Devices Department. As the Professional Supervisor of the Medical Devices Department they will ensure the provision of a high quality equipment service by the department to the Trust. They will ensure safe systems for the procurement, management and maintenance of medical devices, ensuring that there are systems in place, which minimise risks associated with their acquisition and use. They will ensure compliance with all legal and statutory requirements and relevant technical guidance.
Responsible for effective leadership of the Clinical Engineering Department. The Clinical Engineering Supervisor has specific responsibilities for: Incident Reporting and liaison with the Health Safety and Risk Department on matters from the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, Staff Appraisals and Personnel Issues.
To carry out planned maintenance, acceptance testing of new equipment, service and repair on a wide range of medical devices both in workshop and on site environments., + To manage and lead the day-to-day operation of the Clinical Engineering Department
+ To make a significant contribution to the management of the repair and maintenance function by ensuring that there are sufficient operationally ready equipment available to meet the stated daily requirement
+ The overall accountability for Medical equipment repair and maintenance being delivered by the Clinical Engineering Department, to include third party repair organisations
+ To be responsible for ensuring that sufficient trained personnel are available to meet the operational requirement
+ To ensure that the department databases are maintained and up to date
+ Provide feedback on work performance by team and individuals
+ Developing and managing the Clinical Engineering Department, it's technical and administrative staff and the services provided by the department
+ To provide guidance and support, setting work priorities, objectives and deadlines for tasks to be completed by the department
+ To undertake Medical Device incident investigations
+ To take responsibility for all tools and equipment within the department and to ensure workshop facilities are kept clear and well-ordered and that all equipment is maintained to acceptable standards.
+ To participate in regular meetings with the Medical Devices Management team and the Clinical Engineering Team
+ To manage acceptance testing and commissioning in the areas that the department covers
