JOB DETAILS Job Title: Clinical Fellow Grade: Clinical Fellow (ST2 Equivalent) Department: Gastroenterology Location: Queens & King George Hospital Department of Medicine There are 226 general medical beds including a Coronary Care Unit and a Medical Admissions Unit, supervised by 59 Consultant Physicians with special interest in Diabetes, Cardiology, Chest Disease, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Elderly Care and Neurology. The junior medical staff comprises of Registrars, Senior Clinical Fellows, Clinical Fellows (ST2 level), Core Medical Trainees, GPVTS, FY2 and FY1 doctors. Main Duties of the Post The Clinical Fellow (ST2 equivalent) will work as an integrated member of the general medical team at Queens or Kings George Hospital under the supervision of consultants. Banded post participating in medical on-call rota. Ward commitments including inpatient and outpatient opportunities. Supervised academic training time including study days. Supportive working environment for career
development including procedure and work-based assessments. Annual and study leave entitlement. Medical Audit In keeping with recent guidelines, the postholder will be expected to participate in the process of medical audit. Post Graduate Facilities There is an active postgraduate education centre with a well-stocked library. Regular meetings are held, and the appointee will be expected to attend and participate in the weekly Grand Round. There is a monthly clinical audit programme, each firm taking responsibility in rotation. Attendance at this meeting is mandatory.
