Full Job Description

One Anaesthetic Clinical Fellow (CT3 level) post is available for six months from February 2025for

initial period of 6 months which may be extended up to 12 months by mutual agreement.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to work in our department to provide excellent, safe perioperative care to our patients. We are a keen teaching hospital with lots of opportunities available to learn and develop your skills. The post holder will be encouraged to take an active involvement in all departmental activities including audit and research.

Main duties of the job

To attend theatre lists and administer anaesthetic as required, visit patients on the wards as necessary pre- and post-operatively and otherwise as required, and to carry out duties as decided by the senior anaesthetic staff.

This post is an integral part of the Anaesthetic Department trainee rota with a 1 in 8 on-call commitment. Rotas are subject to review and change to reflect service delivery.

The trainee doctor accepts that he/she will perform duties during occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate Consultant. In exceptional circumstances this will include providing resuscitation at the adjoining Guildford Nuffield Hospital and the Guildford MRI scanner. It is agreed between the professions and the Department of Health that, whilst junior doctors accept that they will perform such duties, the Secretary of State stresses that additional commitments arising under this sub-section are exceptional and in particular that trainees should not be required to undertake work of this kind for prolonged periods or on a regular basis.
