Clinical Fellow in Interventional Psychiatry

+ Facilitating ketamine preparation, integration and relational dynamic psychotherapy groups

A Clinical Fellow post is available for 12 months from 5th February 2025within the Interventional Psychiatry Service based at the Warneford Hospital Oxford.

This is a unique opportunity to gain experience of rapidly acting antidepressants, especially ketamine, associated group psychotherapy, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS). The Oxford IPS ketamine clinic has treated over 300 patients with over 3000 IV and 9000 oral doses of ketamine and has a full programme of NHS and self-pay clinics.

The name 'Interventional Psychiatry Service' reflects the new modalities of treatment for resistant affective disorders which are provided through what was formally the ECT service. These currently include ketamine, related rapidly acting antidepressants administered by a variety of routes, repetitive transcranial magnetic simulation (rTMS), transcranial direct current stimulation as well as electroconvulsive therapy., OXFORD HEALTH FOUNDATION TRUST AND RESEARCH

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust (OHFT) http://www.oxfordhealth.nhs.uk/ is a research-active Trust http://www.oxfordhealth.nhs.uk/research undertaking studies ranging from small educational projects through to very complex and intensive Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products (CTIMPS) across a variety of disciplines from dementia, mental health, community health, children and young people services.

OHFT is one of only two Trusts in the country to host a National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) https://oxfordhealthbrc.nihr.ac.uk/. In partnership with Department of Psychiatry https://www.psych.ox.ac.uk/, this supports infrastructure for experimental medicine, as does the the NIHR funding for the Clinical Research Facility at the Warneford. There are also research 3T MRI and MEG facilities on the Warneford site. The Department of Psychiatry has an international reputation for research with major funding streams including the Medical Research Council (MRC) and Wellcome Trust.
