Full Job Description
The successful candidate would be based in outpatient oncology services, gaining experience in the management of oncology patients receiving specialist treatment and follow-up.
Working alongside the oncology SPRs and ACP team the post holders will provide clinical review for patients receiving systemic anti-cancer therapies and radiotherapy both in the treatment and ambulatory unit settings with potential for telephone triage and follow-up. There will be a detailed induction and ongoing support for oncology specific knowledge, however much of the role will utilise general medical knowledge and skills.
There will be the opportunity to take part in oncology clinics and radiotherapy planning in rotation during the year, to gain further insight into oncology as a specialty.

The appointed post holder will work as part of a team looking after the non-surgical aspects of oncology patients:
· Clinical responsibilities as per timetable
· QI project with 20% protected time
· Engage in teaching of the junior members of the team
· Maintain own professional development and adhere to GMC Good Medical Practice standards and actively engage with mandatory training and appraisal
The post holder/s duties include
· 2 days per week covering the Cancer Centre/Ambulatory Unit, with cross cover for annual leave and sickness absence
· 1-2 clinics including AO telephone, tumour-site specific and radiotherapy planning with admin time
· 1 day protected time for leadership and/or service development project

This is an exciting opportunity for full or part-time post foundation level 2 Doctors (preferably post IMT) with previous NHS experience to join the Sussex Oncology team and provide non-surgical oncological care at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
We have a Clinical Fellow vacancy which would be suitable for either post F2 or post IMT Drs who are interested in exploring oncology as a career and gaining experience in a leadership and service development role. This role can be full or part-time and is fixed for one year.
The post has protected time to lead projects in service development, with a designated Consultant Supervisor and day to day supervision from the on-call SPR and Consultant.
Prior experience working within the NHS is essential, with prior oncology experience desirable but not essential as the role is fully supported.
Working hours will be between 08.30 - 18.00 Monday to Friday with an on-call rota but no overnight requirement. The role is based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with the possibility of travel to peripheral clinics in Eastbourne or Worthing (maximum 1 per week).
