Full Job Description

There is a vacancy for an internal medical trainee level doctor (ST1/2 equivalent) at the Churchill Hospital from 5^th February to 5^th August 2025 (six months). Junior doctors in renal medicine rotate between the acute renal ward, dialysis cover, and day-case unit. They contribute to a 1 in 11 evening and weekend rota, and a 1 in 11 hospital at night rota covering the Churchill Hospital. The posts are fully approved by the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of General Practitioners for General Professional Training. The trainee will be expected to take part in education and training sessions as arranged, which will include post-clinic discussions and formal weekly meetings, The renal and transplant service at the Oxford Kidney Unit has eight junior trainees, including three FY2 and five IMT doctors. All Doctors contribute to the running of the service, rotating through different areas of the specialty -covering inpatients on the renal and transplant wards, the dialysis units, and the day-case unit. There is close supervision by the relevant registrars and the consultant on-call., The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

  • GMC registration
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification, Good spoken and written English. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of formal and informal contributions to teaching and training.
  • Evidence of effective and sustained contribution to clinical governance, clinical risk management and clinical audit activities, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
