Full Job Description
This is an obstetrics and gynaecology role to support the middle grade registrar rota for a 6 month period, with a view for extension if possible. The post will be to cover daytime activities on the labour ward, gynaecology wards, antenatal clinics, gynaecology clinics and theatres. There will be opportunities for both supported and independent practice and depending on the candidate's interest, the post can be directed to the clinical area they wish to pursue. There will also be the option of doing extra on-call shifts if the candidate is keen and these would be paid at locum rate.
The post will be based mainly at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital.

Main duties of the job
Integral to the responsibilities of the post are the following requirements:-
To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust's service plans
To sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate
To undertake all work in accordance with the Trust's procedures and operating policies, The obstetric led delivery suite is in the Women's Centre at Gloucester Royal Hospital and has a level 2 neonatal unit and two obstetric theatres. There is a co-located Midwifery Led Unit (MLU) and a two standalone MLU in Cheltenham and Stroud.
Antenatal clinics are held across the county and there are specialist clinics for fetal medicine, maternal medicine, perinatal mental health and vulnerable women.
Gynaecology:
There is a busy benign and acute gynaecology service based at Gloucester Royal Hospital, with daily early pregnancy clinics and emergency gynaecology clinics.
There are specialist services for Uro-gynaecology and Fertility, and specialist clinics for recurrent miscarriage, operative and diagnostic hysteroscopy and pelvic pain.
Gynaecological oncology:
Gynaecological oncology is based at Cheltenham General Hospital and has regular 2ww, oncology and colposcopy clinics.
